Mummy Hearts You Weekly Catch-Up | 2/52

IMG_0591

This week has flown by. I cannot believe that I am sat typing up another weekly catch-up post. Its been a whirlwind week of back to school and trying to get back into some sort of routine!

Sunday was the day we sadly said goodbye to Christmas! The decorations finally came down and I was sad to say goodbye. The house looks so bare with the lights and tree up and I found myself in a bit of a rut! Mr B’s parents and nan came over after lunch and we had a little catch up with them all. I continued with my crochet blanket and realised it would be to short in width so had to unpick and start over! Its been a disaster ever since!!

It was inset day on Monday so we still had a day to prepare ourselves for the school run. I managed to get the ironing done and all the lunches made. Mr B was back to work and me and the kids chilled all day. We had to go out early evening as G’s swimming classes started back up. To be honest I was so comfy at home I really didn’t want to go, but I so pleased we did and she is just improving by the week. She makes me mega proud!

Tuesday was the day G and H returned to school. I was not looking forward to it. Having them with me for the past two weeks was fantastic and I really didn’t want to see them back at school. An early start and G not wanting to go and H eager to get to school it was a stressful morning. Once  I dropped them at school I came home and sulked because I really didn’t like the fact I was home alone! School pick up was freezing and I was excited to see G and H. Both came out extremely grumpy and tired!

Mr B was off on Wednesday and we planned to go shopping. Once G and H were dropped off into the classroom {thanks to wet play} we headed to the shops. We had a few errands to run and then we decided to go and have a mooch around the shopping centre. Before we new it, it was lunch and our feet were hurting! A quick dash into Five Guys {which was rather lovely!} and then home for a cuppa. We both decided to pick G and H up and head home for a relaxing evening of pizza and TV. Quick bath before bed and an early night.

Thursday was again a wet play day. I went straight to the shops to do my weekly food shop and whizzed home just in time to say goodbye to Mr B. Annoyingly he was working lates so would mean he would be in till gone 8!  I picked G and H up and agreed to a dippy egg tea. It all went wrong when Mr B phoned for me to pick him up! He pulled a muscle in his neck which made him feel rather sick. Mad dash to find him, leaving his van on the job for the evening. Once home I made tea and put G and H to bed as they were rather tired. I soon followed.

Another wet play on Friday. The runs been consistent for the last few days and it was starting to get boring! I returned home to a cup of tea made by Mr B who was back at work as he was feeling a bit better. A bit of Deepheat works wonders! Once school pick up was done we returned home and got into our pjs feeling relieved the week was over with! I had minted lamb for dinner. Mr B was again working lates. I spoke to my dad which is a friday night ritual and once Mr B was home we caught up on CBB.

Saturday we did nothing. Mr B was working and we popped out to run a few errands in the morning but retuned to a relaxing day infant of the TV. I managed to find Lego Friends on POP {sky channel} and G is currently obsessed with it. I made a home made curry for dinner with some mini poppadoms {M&S} and our Saturday night consisted of TV catch up and snuggles on the sofa!

The Famous Little Brick | The Ordinary Moments 2016

IMG_3974

When I was a child, one of my favourite things to do was get the big box of loose lego bricks out and let my imagination run wild. If I was out I would plan in my head what I would build, how I would build it and how it would all be set out. I love the fact that Lego gives you the freedom to build whatever you like.

Fast forward a few a lot of years and Lego is still a huge part of my life. I may be a tad picky about how it should be set up and I always joke about getting the kragle out {Lego super glue} but G and H are just as obsessed with it as I am I was.

Both G and H received a fair amount this year. G loves to sit in her room and delicately play with all her sets, integrating her Popstar Friends with Disney’s Ariel.  H tends to wreck his and I find myself re-building it more times than I can remember, but I guess thats the joy. I find it a bit stressful when the bigger builds gets smashed up but secretly I love building them back to there former glory, its a throwback to my childhood.

IMG_3973

At Christmas G asked to help me and Mr B thought I would say no, but I didn’t and  we sat there for a few hours building the stage for her popstars to perform from and it was so nice to teach her the ropes of building Lego. H is nowhere near ready to try it himself so, for now I guess I will still have to take charge!

Back To School, New Nails,Crochet Problems | Little Love 2016 2/52

IMG_3942

Its Friday, and it can only mean one thing.. Little Love time. This is my favourite part of the week, it lets me reflect on all the little things I have loved.

This week has flew by. Already we are week two into January. I am still not in a routine just yet! Its been raining non-stop and has turned very cold! G and H are back at school and are very tired by the time I pick so its been early nights for everyone this week!

Without to much waffling, this is what I have been loving this week…

Read

The first week into term is always inundated with newsletters, after school club sign up forms and what is expected this term from the school. This week has been no different!

Watched

I have finally managed to watch the rest of Homeland! It took us some time to complete the last series. I always get a little wayward half way through the season, but when it finishes I am always gutted its over. Its been left on a huge cliffhanger and I cannot wait for the next series!

I have silent witness on my planner {which I may or may not of watched by the time this goes live} I also want to watch the new Netflix thriller Making A Murderer.

 Heard

To be honest I have not listened to much this week. Nothing that has really stood out anyway. I am still loving {whispers} Justin Bieber Love Yourself.

WoreIMG_3941

For christmas my mum bought me a new nail varnish and this week I finally got round to using it. Its Barry M Fuchsia Generation. Its one of my favourite nail varnishes by far and it went on so well!

I also bought some new boots from Dorothy Perkins. Huge fan of the ankle boot at the moment.

 Made

Last week I mentioned I started my new crochet project. Over the weekend I managed to get quite a bit done, it wasn’t until I realised that it actually wouldn’t cover me as I had made the starting chain to small! I had to unpick and start over and it wasn’t fun! It took me ages to get it right, I kept mis-counting stitches and I was so close to giving up but I finally got it right and I will have a wonderful large blanket at the end of it!

‘And lastly..’

Mummy Hearts You Weekly Catch-Up | 1/52

IMG_3533

My first weekly catch-up of the year! I hope you all have had a lovely Christmas and celebrated the New Year in style! Here is what Mummy Hearts You has got up to over the past week!

Sunday we woke at my in-laws. After celebrating boxing day there we decided to have a sleep over. It easier for us as we don’t live very close. I was cooked a english breakfast by my father in law which was really good! Once home we relaxed, we may of popped out to by a new hairdryer and a McDonalds lunch! Once home I was so tired I went for a lay down and when I woke H was snuggled next to me. An easy tea of cheese and crackers and and early night was had..

We had to pop to a friends on Monday. Mr B had a quick look at their boiler as it was playing up. G and H had a little play with their friends. We were back home for lunch and a relaxing afternoon playing board games. I popped out to get a few bits for the next few nights for dinner. Mr B was working late at work so it was just me, G and H eating dinners.

Tuesday Mr B was back at work and I was meeting a friend at the soft play. H has had a cough for a while and he got so hot and worked up, he was sick everywhere! Luckily it cleared his chest and although he still kept coughing he seemed to be much better after he bought up the nastiness that was on his chest. I was so embarrassed, I kept reiterating that he was ok and he didn’t have a bug! We arrived back home and we all had baths straight away.. I stunk and H was covered! I also started on my new crochet project!

I popped over to see my sister on Wednesday. G was excited to see her cousins. We stayed for lunch and she made me a few bits for my diary. She has a clever machine that makes stickers! Once home we got into our pjs and spent the rest of the day on the sofa. I had minted lamb for dinner {my favourite!} once the children were in bed.

Thursday Mr B was off and I was up early to do the weekly shop and then  had a few errands to run. G spent her christmas money on 2 new toys {as if she needed more!} H decided to save his as he couldn’t find anything he wanted. After lunch Mr B popped out to the comic shop and purchased a few items out of his money he received for christmas. I spent the afternoon crocheting! I went to bed early feeling a bit poorly. I am not one to celebrate New Years.

After a restless night Friday was a pyjama day. Mr B was back to work. We didn’t do anything all day. I got some more crocheting done and G and H spent the day playing with their toys. I managed to get on top of the washing and sort out homes for all the new lego! We had a cheeky takeout pizza for dinner.

Saturday Mr B was again at work and I tidied the house. I had a friend over for lunch and we played our favourite game of monopoly. I made some homemade chips for lunch and we just caught up and had a good old natter. H was a little unsettled all day and I put it down to lack of sleep! He was a bit of a pickle all day.

The Year That Will Be 2016 | The Ordinary Moments

IMG_2059I slacked last year in joining in with this linky. It has to be one of my favourites. I stopped suddenly half way through last year and I tried to pick it back up but it just didn’t happen. I am hoping 2016 is the year I carry on with it.

My ordinary moments this week is all about the ordinary, our ordinary, the ordinary that will be 2016.

2016 is already starting to fill up quickly. With hospital appointments every few months for me, and G still under them for her ears, I won’t be seeing the back of a hospital anytime soon. I am staying positive though and thats all I can do.

We have our 2016 holiday booked, which I am so excited for, a week long stay at Centre Parcs. Ive never been and I am so looking forward to the break away. Last week we booked all our activities and spa treatments! Its going to be a great family holiday and what makes it better is that Mr B’s family are also going!

The blog is going to have a massive overhaul and I am finally going to go self hosted. This is something I have wanted for such a long time and it makes sense to make the jump. I am determined to blog more and be a better blogger. I found it really hard to knuckle down last year, but I feel confident that this will be the year I do it.

This year we are going to start the house renovations. We need to do a whole rewire, so come spring {when ever it decides to show after this strange winter!} We will be gutting the walls and sorting the electrics. We already made over the bathroom as that didn’t need touching. Its going to be stressful but hopefully by next christmas we will at least have some of the rooms decorated!

I also intend {like last year} to get fit.. Not sure how well that will pan out!

So thats my ordinary moments, just simple ordinary things.. And whats better is I get to have two little people join me on these ordinary adventures of 2016

Roald Dahl, Stick Man, New Projects | Little Loves {2016} 1/52

IMG_3843

Its Friday, and it can only mean one thing.. Little Love time. This is my favourite part of the week, it lets me reflect on all the little things I have loved.

Happy New Year! This is the first #littlelove post of the year and I am excited to see what all my other little lovers have been up to the last few weeks.. My resolution this year is to blog more and finally go self hosted!

Without to much waffling, this is what I have been loving this week…

Read

G received the Roald Dahl book collection for christmas and we have started off with George’s Marvellous Medicine {one of my favourites!} We have been reading a chapter a night and both G and H are really enjoying them. G apparently gets read them at school so she is already a big Roald Dahl fan!

I was also bought the illustrated version of Harry Potter and The Philosophers Stone, I have briefly flicked through it, but cannot wait to read it and admire all the illustrations!

Watched

What haven’t we watched… Firstly, I watched the joy in G and H’s face when they realised santa had been. I really wish I had captured those first few moments, but in the excited I forgot to put the battery in my camera!

We also have watched plenty of Christmas TV, my favourite being Stick Man! It was such a wonderful adaption and it was worth the wait to watch it.

Martin_Freeman_and_Hugh_Bonneville_team_up_to_bring_Julia_Donaldson_s_Stick_Man_to_BBC1_for_Christmas

 Heard

Lots of squeals of delight from G and H. If I could put it in a bottle and keep it I wish I could of!

Wore

In between dressing smartly for Christmas Day and Boxing Day, there have been a lot of pj days.. The days I have got dressed dressed its been a jeans and slouch top kind of days.

I got some new perfume for christmas, my favourite Gucci and the days Ive managed to muster the energy to get dressed I have had a spritz.. It always reminds me of my wedding!

 Made

Lego.. Lego and more Lego! Both G and H received quite a hefty amount this year and I was tasked in putting it together {I secretly love it!} surprisingly it didn’t take me long and G absolutely loves hers.

This christmas I was bought a wool pack to make another blanket and I have already made a start.. I am so excited about this one. I decided to make a Chevron rather than a ripple and I cannot wait to see how it progresses..

IMG_3846

We have also made lots of memories. This year G and H were so wrapped up in the magic of christmas and it was so lovely to watch them. Definitely the best so far..

‘And lastly..’

So we are here, 2016 has arrived and today we are not up to much. Mr B is back to work and I am having a relaxed {maybe in my pjs} day in.

Its been a funny old year, we had some wonderful highs and pretty blowing lows. G has progressed academically and has improved so much in her swimming. H started school and has taken to it really well. We needed the summer with a lovely family holiday away as a four.

I got the dreaded news that I had skin cancer and although everything is good and the 2 operations were successful, there is still that what if hanging over my head. This month sees me seeing the cancer doctor since my op and Im worried to say the least. I am staying positive about it all and I know that I am being looked after in the best way possible.

I really hope you all had a wonderful christmas and I wish you a wonderful new year!

Have a lovely week!

The Year That Was 2015 | Mummy Hearts You Review

IMG_0591

In just a matter of a few hours we will be bringing in 2016. 2015 has flown by and there has been many ups and downs and although the downs have been pretty hard going, we have had some amazing times as a family. Ive had some favourite post and some pretty raw posts and I decided to share some of my favourites with you in the mummy hearts you 2015 review. It was quite a hard task picking out of the 234 posts I had written this year! So grab yourself a tea, or hot chocolate and enjoy some of hand picked mummy hearts you favourites..

On This Day… I blogged about Mine and Mr B’s 8 years of marriage. It has flown by and I can’t believe that in a matter of weeks we will be celebrating another year..

A Mothers Worry saw me talk about my worries as H prepared for his operation. Its hard to see your baby go through something like this and it was only a few months earlier that G went for her ear operation, so my feelings were still very raw. I shouldn’t have been worried as he was a little star

The School Application Post was all about H starting school. We managed to get our first choice and he would be joining his sister. I was so worried about him being accepted for his first choice as we had only just moved and we were out of the catchment area, but luckily we got in and so far he has settled really well.

Loss saw me blog about loosing my nan. I felt a lot of guilt and it took me some time to get over the fact I wouldn’t see her again. It was a really hard time and I found it really difficult coming to terms with loosing her. Its still pains me today. Time is a great healer and it does get easier.

Induction Into Big School was definitely hard for me to blog. H took it in his stride and I was left sitting alone for the first time in 4 years. It was a huge adjustment for me and H

Summer Holiday 2015 saw us have a wonderful holiday in the Lakes. It was a lovely way to start the summer. Although it wasn’t the ideal weather for camping we all had a blast

The C Word was definitely one of my hardest posts of the year. Late summer I was diagnosed with skin cancer and it was really heard to come to terms with. This was my most views post of the year.

Ive Lost My Boy To Big School was a tough blog. I found the first few weeks of H starting school really hard and struggled as a mummy. I blogged about being a Full Time School Mum too

Lastly Bathroom Makeover was finally completed. It was a luxury compared to what we had and I am so proud of my wonderful husband fr doing it all himself!

I have big plans for 2016, in a matter of weeks I shall be taking my blog self hosted which I am really excited about. I intend to put my all into the blog this year and hopefully I can bring my readers and followers some more great blog posts.

Thank you to everyone that reads my blog, I really do appreciate every read like and comment.

Remescar Stick | Review

IMG_3824.JPG

This year I was told I had skin cancer it was a huge shock and took us all quite some time to get our heads around the news. I had to have 2 operations which resulted in a rather long scar down my jawline.

Just at the right time I was asked to trial Remescar for three months and I have been applying it to the scar on a daily basis.

Remescar is an easy to use silicone stick designed for scar care. Remescar releases a transparent, thin and silicone base film which creates an ideal healing protective barrier. This helps to maintain the skin’s moisture balance, while aiding the healing of scar tissues resulting from surgery

Due to the position of my scar I was willing to give it a try and although the scar is still healing, I can already see a change in the feel, and look. When I had the surgery I was left with quite a large bump at the beginning and end of the scar {surgeons call it a dog tail} It was not nice to look at and it was the main thing I was most self conscious about. I have noticed a huge change in the size of this bump and one to be worried about the appearance, I am pleased that it is slowly going down. I was a bit worried about posting pictures, but for the purpose of the review I felt I needed too.

IMG_3085 2.JPG

Before, notice the tiny bobble at the end of the scar?

IMG_3823.JPG

After, the bobble has reduced in size and colour

My scar is still very red and I don’t think that is going to change for some time. I was a bit naive with the Remescar stick thinking that within two months I would have a scar which you could barely see, but its still very much there. I know that in time and with persistent use of the product it will fade a lot. Already people have said that it has toned right down.

My only criticism about it is, it can leave a white residue across the skin just make sure you don’t over-do in applying it. Other than that, I think the product is really good and would recommend it to others. Not only do they do a scar treatment {£19.99 from Boots} they also have a stretch mark cream {£24.99 from Boots} and a spider vein cream {£29.95 from Boots} all in the same range.

**I was sent the Remescar stick for the purpose of this review, all words, pictures, and opinions are of my own**

And In A Blink Of An Eye, Its All Over…

IMG_3785

So thats it, christmas 2015 is over. Even though I was not prepared for it this year and it sprung up on me at the last minute, I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I feel rather glum its over and I am sat looking at my tree thinking, how can it be?

Moo and H were literally spoilt rotten and received so much. H got his much loved and very much hard to find Paw Patroller and Moo got her very  hard to find and very rare My Little Pony Equestrian doll. As well as both receiving Lego and lots of other lovely bits, this year I can honestly say they did well.

This year we spent it with family and over the two days had so much fun. Two days spent eating, drinking, laughing and being very merry.

The run up to christmas was not as fun, I suffered a terrible chest infection which was so bad I was laid up for the best part of last week. A few years ago I suffered with pneumonia and we were all worried that it was another case. With strong antibiotics and some steroid pumps I was good to go on Christmas day!

We spent Christmas Day with my mum and her partner and it was so much fun. My sister, her partner and two boys came too and it was so lovely to spend time as a family together as its not often you get us all in the same room. My mum cooked dinner and we filled ourselves till we couldn’t move. One thing I love about christmas with my mum, is her partner always has these quirky little games and its one thing I look forward to and get us all thinking. I am actually rubbish at them, but my sister and her partner proved to be quite the team!

We arrived home in time for Stick Man – I do love the Julia Donaldson adaptions! We literally did nothing all evening and both Moo and H were so tired and excited for the following days antics they went straight to bed.

Boxing day we went to the in-laws. We had a buffet lunch, which is something I always look forward too, I love a buffet! Round two of present opening commenced and again the children were spoilt so much and received some lovely bits. We then relaxed the whole afternoon, snacking, drinking and larking around as you do. We always try and play a game of Charades at some point when we all get together.

We stayed the night which is always handy as we both were able to drink. We woke to a english breakfast and then made our exit. Driving home it hit us that it was over. We didn’t hear one christmas song driving back, which is a complete shocker as the day before its all we heard on the radio.

Back home I might of slept the afternoon away while Moo and H {and maybe daddy} played with their new toys!

And in a blink of an eye, its all over for another year….

Nativities, One Direction, Fantastic Beasts & Where To Find Them | Little Love 50/52

IMG_3681

Its Friday, and it can only mean one thing.. Little Love time. This is my favourite part of the week, it lets me reflect on all the little things I have loved.

This week has been full of last minute to-do’s.. Nativities and a mad dash to minor injuries!

Without to much waffling, this is what I have been loving this week…

Read

This week I read that Sian over at Potty Mouthed Mummy has decided to let go of her blog and back away from it. I was generally really upset when I read it as I love her and her blog, she really did write from the heart and I hope one day she will be back. Her blog will be missed very much. She will still be on Instagram which I was pleased to hear about!

Watched

Moo had her big Mary moment this week and although it was a non-speaking part she did so well, putting her all into all the songs. H too had his big part as a shepherd and for a first timer at standing on a stage reciting lines he was amazing! He sang with all his heart and really did do so well. Made mama proud!

I also watched this… Good ole James Corden and the 1D boys..

AND this was released this week… Oh I am so excited!

 Heard

Christmas tunes. Last week the tree went up and we had christmas songs on repeat and it felt good. Now the tree is up it definitely feels very much like christmas! You cannot listen to the radio with a christmas song coming on!

Wore

My winter coat has taken a back seat and my poncho has made a re-appearance! I cannot believe the mild weather and yesterday was rather warm, I went out without a coat or poncho!

 Made

I made an Eton Mess for dessert on Sunday. I was going to put up a quick recipe but the blog has been a tad neglected again this week! I will post it up next week!

‘And lastly..’

Yesterday I got that dreaded call from the school that H had, had an accident. It was just after drop off and I was half way home so it had happened within 10 minutes of me leaving. I quickly drove back to find H pale and bandaged up. He had managed to fall over and cut his head open and his lip and nose was a little damaged! The school were concerned they couldn’t stop the bleeding! Thankfully by the time I got there it had calmed down and a quick trip to minor injuries to get it glued and cleaned up was needed. Thankfully he is ok and has a nasty cut and a few bumps and scratches!

Have a lovely week!
