Happy 20th December {Blogmas}

This year throughout December, I have seen lots of lovely traditions. My favourite being, the book advent which KA over at life as our little family started prepping in November. I love this idea and it one I want to do next year.

We have little traditions but they are the bog standard ones, Christmas Eve pyjamas being a recent one for us since having children.. Mr B always received Christmas Eve pj’s and he has just carried that on..

Others which I want to start doing, maybe next year now because its a bit late, are the Christmas Eve boxes. I love this idea and think it so sweet when they open them up to find lots of goodness inside to get you through Christmas Eve!

This year I did buy a book for Christmas Eve, a special Christmas book.. I am so excited to read it, the first was a huge hit in our household and had us all laughing out loud!

What traditions do you have when it comes to the month of December?

So, until tomorrow, I shall leave you with this…

The snow’s coming down
I’m watching it fall
Watching the people around
Baby please come home

Love Splat {What We’re Reading}

A few weeks ago I wrote about Splat The Cat. This here is a follow up and a purrfect cat love story!

IMG_4528

Its valentines day and Splat has a special card for a certain someone in his class.

Her name is Kitten and Splat likes her even more than fish fingers and

ice cream. But she doesn’t seem to like him at all. And then there’s Splats rival,

Spike, who also likes Kitten. Will Splat’s heartfelt card win

Kitten’s paw in the end?

IMG_4506 IMG_4507

Splat has a tough job on his hands trying to win Kitten’s heart. He is a rather shy cat and although he has Spike his rival to contend with, he also believe that Kitten doesn’t really like him! She always pulls at his tail and tells him that he is smelly, but as we learn, Kitten has feelings for Splat too and there is a little story behind the reason why she is a little mean! {I won’t give it way}

IMG_4508

He is deciding what to do with the card when the dreaded nemesis arrives to taunt him, left with a bruised ego he throws the card in the bin and watches aimlessly at Spike and Kitten exchanging cards. What he doesn’t see, are two white fluffy paws taking out the card from the bin he previously threw in there. A tap on the shoulder and a friendly exchange of cards with Kitten he soon finds out who his true love is!

IMG_4509

Its a lovely book and its up there with the first one, I really enjoy reading it to the children and as I said a few weeks ago with the first book, the illustrations are beautifully done.

If you have not read any of the splat books I highly recommend!

If like me you have been reading and want to share then please pop by  and see the lovely Carrie (Space for Butterflies) and see what she has been reading and link up there too!

Blast Off! {What We’re Reading}

IMG_4510

Rocco wants to be the

first bunny in space, but

there’s only room for one

in the spaceship.

Rocco is a bunny and he is desperate to go to space in the rocket. He has a fight on his hands though as all his friends want to go along for the ride too!

IMG_4511 IMG_4512

As each friend drop out, due to fear of, heights, the dark, being too small or too large, its left to one fluffy bunny to do the job.

IMG_4513 IMG_4514

This is a really simple book but a book I really enjoy reading. The illustrations are fabulous. I love the back of the book where you can do activities with your child to get them to really interact with the story.

Splat The Cat {What We’re Reading}

A book about a cat, a cat called Splat. I adore this book. The little boy is a big fan as he is obsessed with cats.

IMG_4505

Its Splats first day at school and he’s worried.

What if he doesn’t make any new friends?

Just in case, splat hides his pet mouse, Seymour in his lunch box.

Soon Splat meets the class and begins his lessons.

School seems ok, after all… Until Seymour escapes at lunch time!

Can Splat keep all his friends, old and new?

IMG_4521

IMG_4522

This is a jolly book, full of humour and both the children love it. They especially love it when the mouse escapes and chaos erupts. Cats and mice do not get on! After a bout of searching for the mouse and having to use the mouse as an unlikely helpful hand, the mouse becomes a popular champion!

IMG_4525

Splay enjoyed his first day at school and he lets his mum know just what just how amazing it was!

Its a fun, simple book with lots of pictures {which are beautifully illustrated may I add} and anybody who loves a cat will end up loving Splat!

I Don’t Want To Go To Bed! {What We’re Reading}

This has been a regular saying since the clocks changed. My reply is always the same. “Its bedtime” and the answer is pretty much the same “but its still light outside mummy”

Through the yawns and bleary blinks Moo is adamant she is not tired! With minutes though she is asleep.

IMG_4491

Little Tiger was very naughty

He did not like going to bed.

When one night Mummy Tiger roared, All Right,

you can stay up all night then! He couldn’t believe

his good luck, and off he scampered into the jungle,

before she could change her mind….

IMG_4492

IMG_4493

Little tiger stumbles across all his friends who, unlike him are tired and are all settling down for the night with their mummies. This is my opportunity to tell Moo again that its time for bed and its best she sleeps now than later other wise she may just fall asleep at school!

IMG_4494

IMG_4495

The tiger eventually comes across a bush baby who finds him alone and scared, and with his big bright ayes he guides the tiger back to his mummy.

I actually really like this book, it has a good moral that mummy always knows best!

Sugarlump and the Unicorn {What We’re Reading}

IMG_3314

Christmas was a book invested haven for me. The children got lots of new additions to the book shelf including this little gem.

Those that know me, know I love books, and I really want my children to be just as enthusiastic about them as I am.

Sugarlump and the Unicorn is another brilliant story by the wonderful Julia Donaldson. She has yet again come up trumps and I fell in love with it instantly.

IMG_3315

What adventures could a rocking horse

have, if only he was a real horse?

IMG_3318

The book itself is bright and beautifully illustrated, which makes it a big hit. Glitter on every page makes it feel magical and both Moo and the little boy love it.

Its definitely one that is going to be read over and over.

Ten Little Ladybirds {What We’re Reading}

IMG_2329

Moo loves this book and will most nights take it to bed to read on her own (sort of) We now know this book of by heart we have read it so often but to be fair it is rather easy to remember.

Its a simple number book, but ties in a rhyme. Its from the original song “10 green bottles” but you can’t sing it to 10 green bottles as it just does not sound right!

IMG_2330

The ladybirds are touchable and obviously disappear page by page which is a fun feature as Moo can easily count them one by one.  Each page is a different setting for the rhyme too.
IMG_2331

This is a great number book. Its one of 3 from our collection and I think they have a few more. Such a simple number book too!

Some Thing I Love #36

We are back doing another some thing I love. It been a bit of a mad week, husband birthday, not much blogging, and time slobbing on the sofa catching up on some old favourites!

Something I read:

After last weeks confession of not reading a book, i felt rather ashamed! So whilst picking up a few bits in the supermarket this week I took a walk down the book aisle and slipped one into my basket that took my fancy.. Admittedly I have yet to get past page 3, I fell asleep! But That new book smell was gorgeous, and I cannot wait to give this book a go..

IMG_7455

Some thing I watched:

*weeps* Ray Donavon is over….. Well season one is anyway. I am so pleased it was left on a happy ending, and all is well in Ray land… I don’t like it when things are left on huge cliff hangers and you have to wait months for new seasons to start! i imagine the next season is going to be great, I cannot wait.

Now Ray is over with (I am still weeping) We have pulled out another old box set Prison break. I loved it first time round and I am loving it this time round!

Some thing I wore:

The days have been rather warm still. A little chilly, but still mild. The evenings have been a little chilly, so my beloved onsie has made a reappearance, I bought it last year and its so cosy and something I love to slob out in of an evening, I bought it form Boux Avenue, and I keep meaning to go back and get another!

Some thing I listened to:

Ive managed to get my hands on the Bastille album finally and its a good un..  This has been playing a fair bit.

Some thing I cannot live without:

Morning coffee dates with the hubby. This week, was the husbands birthday and Tuesday we stopped of for a coffee/pastry breakfast. Moo was of school as the school was on strike. As we had not completed the shopping we decided to pop out again on Wednesday once Moo was safely dropped of at school, the coffee shop was calling once again *nom nom*

I am linking up with the lovely butwhymummywhy’s who, if you didn’t already know won an award at the MADS last week for Best School Days Blog! (was well deserved!) if you want to join in read the rules here.

Dinosaurs Wear Underpants {What We’re Reading}

photo 1

Dinosaurs were all wiped out,

A long way back in history.

No one knew how or why,

Now this book solves the mystery….

photo 2

This is a great book about dinosaurs, cavemen and underpants. Its the follow up to Aliens wear underpants which I am yet to read, but is supposed to be just as fun! If you want to know the real reason dinosaurs died out then this is the book for you!

photo 5

Moo and Thor love this book, its a funny story and a good read. The pictures and engaging and are there to grab the chills eye. Bright, colourful and big.  A dinosaur wearing underpants? surely not?

photo 4

It tells the story of extinction in a child friendly, funny way, not that any child would take it in at such a young age!  Moo already picks up on the dinosaur names and corrects me when I get them wrong!

I am definitely going to get the first book to this collection “Aliens wear underpants” Thor would love it!

Don’t Wake The Royal Baby {What We’re Reading}…

IMG_1254

This weekend Moo went to a birthday party and won the musical statues competition. She has a high competitive streak (she takes after her mother!). The prize was this lovely book, so I thought I would share.

IMG_1252

It was obviously released in time for the royal baby and after the first read I fell in love with it! Moo was so into it asking questions along the way.

IMG_1255

I love the way they have got all the characters of the book set up to match the personalities of the real life Royals. Moo has continuously asked for it to be read and is constantly reading it to her baby Annabel.

IMG_1253

I love everything about this book and its been a big hit! Its definitely one to be recommend. What books are you reading to your little ones at the moment?
